The Wonderful World of Socks
Aside from using them as ready-to-wear hand puppets you can use to impress your kids once jingling the car keys aren't good enough for them, socks have a primary purpose that it has successfully accomplished for centuries-on-end: protecting your feet from its own sweatiness. The earliest footwear ever made was created from animal skins that were tied over the ankles like a plant bag. From that point on, socks were improved upon by leaps and bounds while still keeping in mind their simple origins and basic function. Evidence shows that when the eight century BC came rolling around, Ancient Greeks fabricated socks from matted animal hair their equivalent of today's cotton in order to get that desired feeling of comfort and warm. Then, in 1589, the sewing machine was conceived and the rest is history; socks had become as we see them today, in different sizes, colors, and materials used.
