In order to stay truly
comfortable on your feet, one does not only need to choose the right socks but
the right type of footwear as well. Most of us may take it for granted but the
latter is actually very important, especially for those who have existing
problems with their feet.
This is exactly the problem that
William Mathias Scholl, the founder of Dr. Scholl’s, wanted to address. He
started working as a shoe repairer in order to earn extra money. Later on, he
moved on to work in Rupert’s, where he learned that many other people are
suffering from the same medical problems in the feet as his. This made him
decide to take night classes at the Illinois Medical School where he graduated
as a podiatrist.
He first designed a mechanical
support in 1904 and two years later, decided to put up his own company. Since
then, Dr. Scholl’s have become a source for footwear as well as foot care
products. Among the brand’s many products include orthopedic shoes, cushion insoles,
orthopedic shoes and rubberless stockings. Aside from leg comfort, the company
also made hosiery and socks that provided relief from varicose veins and from
swollen ankles.
